Westminster Kantorei and Fuma Sacra Concert on April
7 and 8
Westminster Kantorei and Fuma Sacra will collaborate
under the direction of Andrew Megill to present Claudio Monteverdi’s
Vespro della Beata Virgine (Vespers of 1610,) on Friday,
April 7 at 8 p.m. in Bristol Chapel, on the Westminster campus,
and on Saturday, April 8 at 8 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic
Church, 213 W. 82nd Street in New York City. The work is one of
the greatest glories of the Baroque choral repertory. Tickets
for the Bristol Chapel performance are $15 for adults and $10
for students and seniors and can be purchased through the Westminster

performance are $25 for adults and $10 for students and seniors

Westminster Chapel Choir Spring Concert on April
8
Westminster Chapel Choir, conducted by Sun Min Lee, will present
its spring concert on Saturday, April 8 at 8 p.m. in Bristol Chapel
on the Westminster campus. The program, entitled “Rejoice,”
will include works ranging from classics by Monteverdi, Handel,
Elgar and Poulenc, to contemporary compositions of Moses Hogan
and John Tavener. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students
and seniors and can be purchased through the Westminster box office

Music of the Pacific Rim Concert on April 8
A concert entitled “Music of the Pacific Rim” will
be presented on Saturday, April 8 at 8 p.m. in The Playhouse.
The performance is presented in conjunction with the “Music
and the Asian Diaspora” symposium hosted by Westminster
April 7-9. Performers are Gamelan Dharma Swara, a group of 30
dancers and musicians performing traditional and new works for
Balinese gamelan, Sounds of Korea, the resident ensemble of the
Korean Traditional Performing Arts Association and Happyfunsmile,
performing an eclectic mix of Okinawan pop, electric folk songs
(ultraminyo), supersweet ballads (enka), festival rhythms and
obon beats. Tickets for the concert are $15 for adults and $10
for students and seniors and can be purchased through the Westminster

Early Music Series Concert “George III &
Queen Charlotte – Mad About Musick” is April 9
The Practitioners of Musick - Eugene Roan, organ and harpsichord
and John Burkhalter “English” flutes - will be joined
by esteemed friends - David Black, violoncello; Gavin Black, harpsichord;
and Jill Crawford, German flute, in a concert entitled “George
III & Queen Charlotte – Mad About Musick” at Bristol
Chapel on the Westminster campus on Sunday afternoon, April 9
at 3 p.m. The concert will be preceded by an informal talk by
John Burkhalter at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15
for students and seniors and may be purchased by calling the Westminster

Westminster Music Theater at Odette’s in New
Hope, Pa. on April 19 and 20
Stars of Westminster’s exciting new program in music theater
will perform in an evening of cabaret at the famed Odette’s,
274 South River Road in New Hope, Pa. Come hear these wonderful
young singers in what promises to be an evening to remember! Admission

Westminster Conservatory at Nassau Program on April
20
“Bird Songs,” a program of music for
soprano, flute, and piano, will be presented at 12:15 p.m. on
Thursday, April 20 as part of the series, Westminster Conservatory
at Nassau. This free half-hour program will take place in the
Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street in
Princeton. The performers, Danielle Sinclair, soprano; Ellen Fisher
Deerberg, flute; and Kathy Shanklin, piano, are members of the
Westminster Conservatory faculty. The program includes “When
Daisies Pied,” by Thomas Arne, “Lo! Here the Gentle
Lark,” by Bishop, “Sweet Suffolk Owl” by Richard
Hundley, “Sweet Bird” from L'allegro ed il pensieroso
by Handel and “Bird-Song” by Michael Head.
Twelfth Night Performances on April 20 to 29
The Rider Fine Arts Department will present
Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, directed by Rick Homan,
on Friday April 21 and 28 and Saturday, April 22 and 29. There
is also a preview on Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m. All performances
are in The Yvonne Theater in the Fine Arts Building on the Lawrenceville
campus. Toward the end of the film Shakespeare in Love,
Queen Elizabeth tells young Will Shakespeare, “Something
lighter next time, for Twelfth Night.” As the movie ends,
the young thespian begins to imagine a play about a woman shipwrecked
in a strange land. The result is perhaps his most brilliant comedy,
full of unforgettable characters, astonishing twists of plot and
a few thoughts on being oneself. Admission is $10 for adults and

Westminster Jubilee Singers Winter Concert Rescheduled for April 22
The Westminster Jubilee Singers’ Winter Concert
has been rescheduled for Saturday April 22, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert, which was cancelled due to inclement weather, will
be performed at Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street,
Princeton, N.J. In honor of Black History Month, the ensemble,
conducted by J. Donald Dumpson, will perform the music for which
it has become known - music from the African-American experience:
spirituals, hymns and gospel songs. Tickets are $15 for adults
and $10 for seniors and students. If you have previously purchased
tickets for February 11, they will be honored for this performance.

is no parking available at Nassau Presbyterian Church, however
there are many nearby municipal lots.
Rider Band and Rider Choir to Perform April 24
Composed of Rider University students, the Rider Band, conducted by Jerry Rife, joined by the renowned Blawenburg Band, and the Rider Choir, conducted by Craig Tipton, will present a concert on Monday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in The Yvonne Theater in the Fine Arts Building. Admission is free to this performance.
