Boris Vilic |
Boris Vilic, a specialist in innovative
technologies, customer satisfaction and employee training, has
been appointed executive director and associate dean of the College
of Continuing Studies (CCS) at Rider University. He began his
new position last month.
Vilic comes to Rider from Duquesne University in
Pittsburgh, PA, where he served as director of technology and
faculty team leader for the computer systems technology curriculum
for the School of Leadership and Professional Advancement, the
University’s continuing education unit.
“Boris was an ideal candidate for Rider,”
said Dr. Phyllis Frakt, vice president for academic
affairs and provost. “I am confident that he will work effectively
and creatively to advance Rider and the College of Continuing
Studies. I am also confident that academic colleagues will enjoy
getting to know him and working with him on exciting projects.”
Jamie O’Hara, vice president
for enrollment management, concurs. “Boris will be a great
asset to Rider University and all the new academic undertakings
we are looking to accomplish over the coming years,” said
O’Hara.
Vilic joined Duquesne University in 1996 as coordinator
of distance learning. While there, he developed and implemented
a variety of credit programs in traditional and online formats,
including a master of science in leadership and information technology.
In addition to developing online programs, Vilic has experienced
creating online student and faculty service applications, building
collaborative programs, and leading a growing adult education
program.
His work has earned him critical acclaim. Vilic’s
projects won the Creative Uses of Technology Award from the Association
for Continuing Higher Education in two consecutive years. He was
also honored with the 2005 Nofflet Williams Up and Coming Leadership
Award from the University Continuing Education Association and
Distinguished Faculty Award from the School of Leadership and
Professional Advancement at Duquesne. Vilic’s work has been
published in “Syllabus” and the “Ed Journal.”
He recently co-authored a book chapter that focuses on academic
integrity in the online environment and has presented his work
at national and regional conferences.
Vilic holds an MBA in marketing from Duquesne University and a
B.S. degree in administration and management from La Roche College
in Pittsburgh.
