Westminster Symphonic Choir, New York Philharmonic: Mozart January 26-28

The Westminster Symphonic Choir will perform Mozart's Mass in C, K. 317, "Coronation" with the New York Philharmonic in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City. Performances will start at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, and 8 p.m. on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28. Tickets can be purchased by calling 212-875-5656. The external affairs office has a limited number of tickets available at group rates for the performance on Friday, Jan. 27. Prices are: second tier center $47 and preferred orchestra $54. Early Music Series: Handel - Nine German Arias - January 29

The Westminster Early Music Series will continue with a performance featuring The Chatham-Wood Duo (Patrick Wood, Baroque violin and Holly Chatham, harpsichord) and guest soprano Nell Snaidas, Sunday, January 29 at 3 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus. The program combines Handel's Nine German Arias for soprano and violin with his sonatas for violin. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Westminster Kantorei "Song of Songs" Concert on February 4

A concert entitled "Song of Songs" is being presented on Saturday, February 4 at 8 p.m. at Miller Chapel at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton. Experience the passion and sensuality of the Song of Solomon, evocatively set to music by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Daniel-Lesur. The concert will be performed in collaboration with Fuma Sacra, Westminster's ensemble-in-residence. There is a suggested donation at the door of $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Westminster Conservatory Faculty Recital - "Crossroads" with Trio da Capo on February 4

A Westminster Conservatory Faculty Recital is being presented on Saturday, February 4 at 8 p.m. It is entitled "Crossroads" with Trio da Capo, and the performers are Galina Prilutskaya, piano, Ileana Ciumac, violin and Tomasz Rzeczycki, 'cello. They will be performing works ranging from Haydn to Shostakovich. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Students, faculty and staff receive one free ticket with a valid ID. New Jersey Music Teachers Association Children Helping Children Performathon Program on February 4 and 5

The New Jersey Music Teachers Association Children Helping Children Performathon is a non-competitive music experience for students of all ages and levels of advancement. It is an opportunity for the students to share their musical talents for both artistic enrichment and community service. The money collected from these public recitals will be donated to the Child Life Program at Bristol-Meyers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. The recitals will take place on Saturday, February 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sunday, February 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Williamson Hall on the Westminster campus. Admission is free. "A Woman's Journey: Music and Poetry of a Woman's Life" by Nancy Froysland Hoerl on February 5

The Westminster Faculty Recital Series continues on Sunday, February 5 at 4 p.m. (originally scheduled for 3 p.m.) with a recital by Nancy Froysland Hoerl, soprano, accompanied by Akiko Hosaki, piano, entitled "A Woman's Journey: Music and Poetry of a Woman's Life." It will include works that focus on different aspects of a woman's life: courtly love, youth, mature love, home and love in the 21st-century. Emily Dickinson, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Dorothy Parker, Christina Rossetti and Gertrude Stein are several of the female poets whose words are featured in the recital. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Students, faculty and staff receive two free tickets with a valid Rider ID. Conservatory Recital in Gill Chapel on February 5

Westminster Conservatory will present a recital on Sunday, February 5 in Gill Chapel on the Lawrenceville campus. "A Panorama of 20th Century Flute Music," performed by Seth Rosenthal, flute, and Suzanne Lehrer, piano, is a survey of interesting and varied compositions for flute written in the 20th-century. It will include the bird-like atonality of Messiaen, Gary Schockers popular "Airborne," Shulamit Ran's "East Wind," and the beautiful Georgian treatment of the flute of Otar Taktakishvili's neo-classical "Sonata." There is no charge for this performance.

The Westminster Williamson Voices concert entitled "Contemporary Candlemas" on Sunday, February 5 at 5 p.m. at The Philadelphia Cathedral in Philadelphia has been cancelled.

Westminster Jubilee Singers to present a Concert Celebrating Black History Month on Feb. 11

The evening of Saturday, February 11 will be filled with inspiration and joy as the Westminster Jubilee Singers present their winter concert at 8 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus. In honor of Black History Month, the performance will feature the music for which this lively and popular ensemble has become known - music from the African-American experience, spirituals, hymns and gospel songs.
