Student Chapter of Council for Exceptional
Children Hosts Dance
 |
| Rider’s student chapter of the Council for Exceptional
Children recently hosted a dance for young adults with
disabilities in the local community. Activities included
dancing, crafts, and games. Approximately 30 Rider students
planned and facilitated the dance. This is an annual event
that provides an opportunity for young adults with disabilities
from the community to socialize and interact with Rider
students. Dr. Diane Giannola, Dr. Joanne Vesay,
assistant professors in the department of teacher education
and Dr. Michele Kamens, associate professor
in the department of teacher education, are co-advisors
of the student chapter. The Rider CEC is open to all Rider
students and is part of an international professional
organization for those interested in the education of
individuals with exceptionalities.

Adopt-A-Highway Program
Members of the Rider University swimming and diving team
participated this month in Rider's Student-Athlete Advisory
Council's (SAAC) Adopt-A-Highway program to clean up all four
ramps off I-95 north and south bound exits 7 A and 7 B, near
Rider. Rider athletes participate in the program twice during
the spring semester each year. Filling bags of debris are
left to right: Andrew Palmieri, a freshman global business
major; Joshua Rosenbluth, a freshman accounting major; Dylan
Korn, a sophomore communication major; and Andrew French,
a junior biopsychology major. Rider SAAC shares the clean
up with The College of New Jersey baseball team.
