ACHIEVERS
The following students are enrolled in Rider’s Student Support Services (SSS) program:
  • Joe Capizzi, a freshman psychology major, is an aspiring actor, dancer, model and vocalist. Last September, he won first runner-up in the Hamilton Township Mercer County New Jersey Idol contest. He has performed in many plays and been featured on several television programs, including his role as a stand-in teenager on "Law and Order."
  • Valerie Cedeno, a freshman journalism major, is the recipient of the Foreign Languages and Literatures Award for outstanding writing in advanced Spanish. She is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, a national academic honor society for first year students.
  • Kim Borges, a senior psychology major, is the recipient of a laptop from the Beaumont Foundation of America. She is also the recipient of a Soroptimist International of Princeton Women's Opportunity Award and was a presenter at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Conference in Boston. Borges is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society. This spring, she was named a Trio Scholar. She has been accepted into the counseling program in Rider's Graduate School.
  • Thaihang Nguyen, a senior biochemistry major, and Crystal Mercado, a senior political science major, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievement at a conference in March for the New Jersey Equal Opportunity Fund Professional Association. Nguyen served also as president of the American Medical Student Association, president of the American Chemical Society, and vice president of the Biological Honor Society. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the National Honor Key Society and Chi Alpha Epsilon, National Honor Society.
  • Deawaika Dolo, a senior finance major, is president of the Rider University Swim Club, a club that he founded. He also helped found and organize the Photography Club and the Bronc Pep Band. " Randy Nixon, finance major, served as freshman class treasurer.
  • Martha Hernandez, a sophomore psychology major, served as vice president of the Latin American Student Organization (LASO).
  • Jesselly De La Cruz, a senior political science major, served as co-leader of the Rider Model UN Team and as president of the Intercultural Greek Council.
  • Demitrios "Jamie" Papapetros, a freshman communication major, is a DJ on campus at radio station WRRC (107.7). He also serves on the Rider Community Standards Board.
  • Gena Strohm, a junior management/global business major, served as chief financial officer of the Residence Hall Association.
  • Tiffany Moody, a sophomore English major, was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the communication honors society.
  • Lynnette Dortrait, a senior elementary education/communication major, has been inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor society and Chi Alpha Epsilon, the EOP Honor Society.
  • Janice Barsoum, a senior accounting/global business major, served as an accounting tutor; Thaihang Ngyuen, a chemistry tutor; and Rachel Kahn, a senior psychology major, as a psychology tutor. Kahn has been accepted into the Graduate School of Montclair State University.
  • Demitrios Papapetros, a freshman; Joy Salasin, a junior; Josanne Sampson, a junior; and Kenny Reyes, a senior, were named SSS Student of the Year.
