Softball Stumbles

After defeating Fairfield 13-0 in a MAAC game, the softball team lost three straight and is now 4-4 in the conference.
      At Fairfield Sophomore Heather Beintema pitched a one-hitter in the five-inning game, as Rider scored six runs in the third inning and seven more in the fifth. 
      Senior Brandey Weed had two hits, including a double, and two RBI, and junior Maddy Boulden had two hits, including a double.
      In the second game, Rider led 4-3 before Fairfield scored with two outs in the seventh inning to tie the score at 4-4, and scored an unearned run in the eighth inning on one hit and an error.
      The Broncs were swept by Iona in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader Sunday.
      In the first game, Rider managed just four hits, including a double by sophomore Kristen Kenavan.
      Heather Beintema struck out seven and held Iona to five hits. Sophomore Jamie Farley had three of Rider's nine hits, including a double.
