Holocaust Center Offers Workshop for Local Teachers

Local primary through twelfth-grade teachers are invited to Rider University to attend a workshop Tuesday, March 16 designed to help them reduce feelings of hatred experienced in life.
The Julius and Dorothy Koppelman Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center at Rider will sponsor the workshop, “Hatred: Can it Be Unlearned?,” Tuesday, March 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in Daly’s.
Dr. Joanne Plescia, a psychologist from North Hanover Township Schools, will serve as the morning workshop presenter. Presenting practical information for teachers, counselors and administrators, Plescia will discuss different steps to help reduce levels of hatred in the classroom and in one’s daily lives. Participants will engage in exercises and dialogue to implement the “unlearning of hate” in schools.  Center co-directors Drs. Marvin Goldstein, associate professor of psychology, and Harvey Kornberg, associate professor of political science, will examine how Holocaust materials can be used to tackle this issue.
Registration is required. For further information, call the Center at (609) 896-5345.
