Baseball Wins Two, Third Rained Out

After losing at Seton Hall and at home to La Salle last week, the baseball team shuffled off to Buffalo to take on MAAC-rival Canisius in a three game series.  The Broncs won the first two games, both by the score of 5-3, before being rained out on Sunday.
In the first game, junior Jonathan Rehm hit an RBI triple in the sixth inning and later scored to give Rider a 4-2 lead. Rehm had three of Rider's eight hits.
Freshman Justin Roszkowski hit his first career home run to tie the score at 2-2 in the fifth inning, and also tripled in the first game. Roszkowski had three hits on the day.
Rider junior Joe Moronese pitched a complete game, striking out seven while allowing just one earned run.
In the second game, Rider (12-21, 5-9 MAAC) scored twice in the top of the first inning on a two-run single by senior Sean Whalen (Hamilton Square/Steinert), who had three hits, including a double, and three RBI in the double header.
Senior Scott Rich and sophomore Gene Crimoli hit back-to-back doubles in the three-run fifth inning to give the Broncs a 5-0 lead.
Senior Mike Rakoczy struck out five in five innings for the win, while senior Joe Ambler collected his third save of the season.
