Achievers
- Dr. Ron Cook, professor of management and
human resources, was elected to the Small Business Institute (SBI) Board
of Directors and as an officer of its executive committee at the national
SBI Association conference Feb. 12-14. As vice president of publications,
he is responsible for all communication activities to members, the awards
program and the peer reviewed journal, The Journal of Small Business
Strategy. Since 1972, through the SBI Program, college and university
students throughout the world participate in hands-on experiential learning
by conducting faculty-guided case studies and providing consulting services
to local small, entrepreneurial, and family-owned businesses. The SBI
Program uses senior-level undergraduate or graduate students, under
faculty supervision, to provide this business consulting and technical
assistance.
- Dr. Gerald Klein, associate professor of organizational behavior
and management, who was named a Jesse H. Harper Professor last year,
used his award to become more knowledgeable about working with students
with disabilities in the classroom. As a result, he held a day-long
workshop for faculty in the College of Business Administration (CBA)
to share what he had learned from the experience. Seventeen faculty
attended, receiving $100 each for their participation. Acting on an
idea from participant Dr. Ralph Gallay, associate professor of
marketing, the faculty members decided to donate their honorariums to
a special gift fund maintained by Rider’s services for students with
disabilities office. The funds will be used to purchase needed supplies
and equipment. The other workshop participants were: Dr. Radha
Chaganti, professor of business policy and environment; Dr.
Judy Cohen, associate professor of marketing; Dr. Ron Cook,
