Rider Honors Two Faculty Members for Teaching Excellence - Robert J. Lackie of Lawrenceville, assistant professor-librarian, and Dr. Jonathan Yavelow of West Trenton, professor of biology, received the Rider University awards for Distinguished Teaching at the University’s 139th Commencement. The awards have been presented annually since 1961.

Snack Bar Summer Hours - During the summer break, Rider University's Snack Bar in the Bart Luedeke Center will operate under the following hours through Wednesday, June 30: Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m; Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. During Memorial Day weekend, May 29-31, and Fourth of July weekend, July 3-5, the Snack Bar will be closed. It will open July 1 and 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and July 6 through August 19, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (closed on Saturday and Sunday).

Nurse at WCC Receives Nursing Excellence Award - Regina Gillespie, a nurse in Student Health Services who serves Rider’s Lawrenceville and Westminster campuses, was recently honored by the New Jersey College Health Association, receiving the 2004 New Jersey College Health Association Award for Nursing Excellence, at its recent meeting.
     Gillespie was one of the first nurses in New Jersey to become nationally certified in college health nursing when the certification became available 12 years ago. Over the years, nurse Pat Sheridan, her fellow co-worker, has been most impressed with Gillespie’s perseverance and high energy level.
      “Regina has always put her all into treating students on both campuses,” said Sheridan, who nominated her for the award.

Softball Players Honored - Nine members of the Rider University softball team were honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and sophomore Heather Beintema was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Year.
Softball Season Ends in MAAC Title Game - The Rider University softball season came to an end in the title game of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship tournament Saturday, held at Marist College.
Rider Says Goodbye to Baseball Coach, Field - Saturday, May 22, will be the final baseball game played on the Richard F. Daly Field, and the final Rider baseball game coached by Sonny Pittaro
Track Competes at Eastern Championships - Several members of the Rider outdoor track & field teams competed this past weekend at the Eastern Championships hosted by Yale University, the men in the ICAAAA and the women in the ECAC.

8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. – There will be a science symposium, “Using Science to Protect Wetlands: Making Science Available to All,” in the Bart Luedeke Center.  Dennis Whigham, former Rider ecology professor and currently with the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center of Edgewater, MD, will be the keynote speaker.  A highlight of the day will be a field trip, 2:30-5:30 p.m., to the Trenton Hamilton Marsh.  The program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Hamilton-Trenton-Bordentown Marsh, Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, New Jersey Water Resources Research Institute, Delaware River Keeper and Rider University.

Closing ceremonies for the final baseball game ever at Richard F. Daly Field including the retirement of uniforms of Rider coaching legends Sonny Pittaro and Tom Petroff. Pre-game ceremonies at 11 a.m. and Rider vs. Saint Peter's at noon.
