Rider to Host Winter Weekend 2003
“Let it Snow… Let it Snow…Let it Snow!”
is the theme of Winter Weekend 2003 at Rider University. One and all
are invited to join in the fun Friday, January 31 through Sunday,
February 2.
To kick off the weekend, the showing
of the movie “Sweet Home Alabama” will be shown Friday,
Jan. 31 in the Student Center Theater at 7:30 p.m. An evening of comedy
will follow at 9:30 p.m. with comedians Dean Edwards of “Saturday
Night Live” and Talent of “Def Comedy Jam.” That
evening, starting at 10 p.m., members of the campus community are
invited to the Bronc Buffet at Daly’s to snack on various delectables,
including hot chocolate, popcorn, and Munchkin Donuts. Free mugs will
be also be distributed. Entertainment
and free door prizes are also in store.
Winter Weekend t-shirts will be given
out Saturday, Feb. 1 to the first 100 students with Rider I.D. who
enter Alumni Gym at 1 p.m. to watch the Rider women’s basketball
team play Fairfield. At 3 p.m., the Rider men’s team plays St.
Peter’s.
Weekend highlights will also include
a bowling outing on Saturday, Feb. 1 and an ice skating trip on Sunday,
Feb. 2. Students must report to the Student Center (SC) Lobby Saturday
at 10:30 p.m. to attend the bowling outing; for the ice skating outing
on Sunday, they must report to the SC Lobby at 1:45 p.m.
“Winter Weekend is quickly
becoming an exciting tradition at Rider,” said Erin McCauley,
assistant director of Campus Life. “A variety of festivities
are offered that cover a spectrum of interests and activities. Regardless
of whether it snows or not, students and other members of the campus
community will not want to miss out on the excitement.”
