Presidential Search Takes Next Step Forward

The Rider University Board of Trustees reviewed and approved the position description for the presidential search at its October 3rd meeting.
Dr. John Kuhnle, managing director at Korn/Ferry International, presented the trustees with a draft of the position description. Included in that draft was a list of skills and requirements for the next president. That list has been developed with input from a series of campus forums held on September 12.
The board members spent considerable time listening to the input received during these forums and discussing the summary document put together by Korn/Ferry. The final document will be posted on the Rider Web site shortly.
“Our Korn/Ferry team members will now use this document and the criteria it represents to accomplish two things,” said Paul Lang, board chair and search committee chair. “First, they will contact a wide array of individuals who meet these criteria in an effort to recruit them into the search. Additionally, they will screen the significant number of applicants who have already responded with interest to the initial Chronicle of Higher Education advertisement against these standards.”
Once Korn/Ferry has assembled a list of qualified and interested candidates, the Presidential Search Committee will begin a review to narrow the list down to candidates whom they wish to further evaluate. This phase of the search will continue over the next 60 days, Lang said.
