Search Committee Created for Library
Dean
A search committee at Rider has been established to
seek the replacement of Dr. Elizabeth Smith, who served as
dean of University Libraries, until she retired on January 31.
Dr. Smith served as dean since 1996.
“During Dr. Smith’s six and a half years as dean, Moore
and Talbott Libraries made great strides in improved staffing, facilities,
technology, and procedures,” said Dr. Phyllis Frakt,
provost and vice president of academic affairs. “Dr. Smith was
always a strong advocate for the needs of the libraries and its users
and a gracious and caring colleague.”
John Buschman, acting dean of
University Libraries, is serving as chairperson of the search committee.
In addition to Buschman, members of the search committee are:
-
Kenneth Ashworth, vice president for development
and university relations;
-
Dr. Dennis Buss, associate professor of education;
- Dr. Sharon Mirchandani, assistant professor of music composition,
history, and theory;
- Marilyn Quinn, associate professor-librarian at Moore Library;
- Bill Roell, associate vice president and controller; and
-
Robert Terrio, assistant professor-librarian
at Talbott Library.
According to Acting Dean
Buschman, the search is just underway and the work of the Committee
is proceeding. “We expect a strong pool of candidates for the
position, which is expected to be filled by the start of the fall
semester,” said Buschman.
