Rider University 84, Marist College 77

In a battle for first place, freshman Jerry Johnson, a business administration major,  scored a career high 24 points to lead Rider (16-9, 12-4 MAAC) to an 84-77 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win at Marist (17-8, 11-5 MAAC). This was Rider's first victory at Marist in 12 tries.
     Holding a 72-71 lead with four minutes left, Rider went on a 7-0 run, four points from senior Mario Porter, a marketing major,  to take a 79-71 lead with 2:05 left in the game. Porter finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds, his 11th 'double-double' of the season. 
     Leading 69-56 with 9:50 left, Marist went on a 15-3 run, six points by senior guard Sean     Kennedy to cut Rider's lead to 72-71 with four minutes. The Red Foxes could get no closer. Kennedy finished with a game high 26 points.
     The Broncs took their first lead 10-8, early in the first half and led for the rest of the game. With the scored tied at 21, Rider went on a 12-3 run, four points by Porter, to take a 33-24 lead. Rider led 42-32 at the half 
     Rider hosts Siena on Wednesday in the final home game of the season.
