CAREER SERVICES CENTER OPEN FOR STUDENTS -- Relocated from the first floor of Rider's Student Center to the facility's second floor, Career Services is open for business. The new suite of offices--just beyond a set of modern glass doors--comprises administrative offices, two high-tech classrooms, a videoconference center, library resource center, and conference room. For more information on the new center, click here. RIDER CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH -- February at Rider will feature a variety of events in honor of Black History Month. All events are free and open to the public. Month-long programming will feature lecturers, various entertainment venues, and a closing ceremony. ACCOUNTING STUDENTS OFFER FREE TAX ASSISTANCE -- For the 18th consecutive year, Rider University accounting students will participate in the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program by offering free income tax assistance to individuals who cannot afford professional tax help. RIDER SELECT PROGRAM -- A NATIONAL CASE STUDY -- Rider SELECT (Science Education and Literacy Center) seeks to better prepare teachers to give children the necessary tools to learn science and math. This month, a team of faculty and administrators from SELECT will be one of 15 university teams from across the country to participate in the first National Teacher Preparation Institute, sponsored by the National Science Resource Center. For further information, go to Rider SELECT. SBI TEAMS IN NATIONAL FINALS --Rider's Small Business Institute (SBI) teams have again won the regional competition and are in the national finals. RIDER STUDENTS HELP, LEARN FROM STUDENTS IN JAMAICA -- Thirteen Rider University students departed for Jamaica, West Indies, during winter recess to not only provide tutorial assistance and mentoring services to several disadvantaged youngsters, but to learn from them the value of diversity, spread global citizenship, and understand the ramifications of poverty.
