Rider University Art Exhibit: Photography
by Gary Saretzky through December 9
The Rider University Art Gallery will present an exhibit “Gary
Saretzky, Photography” through Sunday, December 9. An artist’s
talk will be held on Thursday, November 8 at 7 p.m. The Art Gallery
is located in the Bart Luedeke Center on the Lawrenceville campus
and admission is free. The exhibition will present for the first
time a selection of the different subjects that Gary Saretzky
has photographed over the past 30 years.
“Cézanne, Rembrandt and Bathsheba: The Nude
and the End of Narrative” Lecture on November 7
The second lecture in the “Naked Facts: The Nude in 19th
and 20th Century Art” series, entitled “Cézanne,
Rembrandt and Bathsheba: The Nude and the End of Narrative,”
will be presented by Mary Tompkins Lewis on Wednesday, November
7 at 7 p.m. in the Rider University Art Gallery in the Bart Luedeke
Center on the Lawrenceville campus. Lewis, a visiting associate
professor from Trinity College, is a noted Cézanne scholar
and editor of Critical Readings in Impressionism and Post-Impressionism,
published by the University of California Press. The series is
presented by the studio program in art in the fine arts department.

Sweet Charity on Lawrenceville campus November
9-17
The musical Sweet Charity will be presented on Friday
and Saturday, November 9 and 10, and Friday and Saturday, November
16 and 17, at 8 p.m. in The Yvonne Theater on the Lawrenceville
campus. There will also be a preview performance on Thursday,
November 8, at 7 p.m. and a brush-up on Thursday, November 15,
at 7 p.m. Imagine the magical combination of a book written by
Neil Simon with music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields,
and you have the delightful and timeless musical comedy classic
Sweet Charity. This charming show about a young woman who
always seems to pick the wrong guy is an enchanting, delightful
and unforgettable evening of theater. Set in New York City, this
show has extraordinary musical numbers, including Big Spender,
If My Friends Could See Me Now, There’s Gotta Be Something
Better Than This and I’m a Brass Band. The
production is directed by Miriam Mills. Tickets are $10 for adults

Westminster Choir Concert on Sunday, November 11
The Westminster Choir, conducted by Joe Miller, will present
its first concert of the season on Sunday, November 11, at 3 p.m.
in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus. Entitled “The
Sun Is Daily New and Old,” the concert will be a tonal journey
of diverse texts and harmonies exploring timeless themes, merging
the future with the past. The works include: When David Heard
by Weelkes; A Child’s Prayer by MacMillian; An
die Heimat, Op. 64 by Brahms; Lucis Creator optime by
Miskinis; and Loch Lomond by Quick. Tickets are $15 for

Kaleidoscope Conservatory Faculty Recital “7-8-9”
on November 11
The Kaleidoscope Chamber Series features performances by Westminster
Conservatory faculty, emphasizing repertoire that combines voice
and different instrumental families. The second performance in
the series, entitled “7-8-9,” will be presented on
Sunday, November 11, at 3 p.m. in Gill Memorial Chapel on the
Lawrenceville campus. The repertoire includes Beethoven’s
Septet; Stravinsky’s Octet; and Spohr’s Nonet.

Westminster Jubilee Singers to Perform “We Give
Thanks!” on Sunday, November 11 at 7 p.m.
J. Donald Dumpson will conduct the Westminster Jubilee Singers
in a concert entitled “We Give Thanks!” on Sunday,
November 11, at 7 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus.
The concert will set the tone for the American celebration of
Thanksgiving. The program will feature the music for which this
lively and popular ensemble has become known – music from
the African-American experience: spirituals, hymns and gospel
songs. Audience members will be inspired to give thanks for the
gifts of self, family and friends. Tickets are $10 for adults

Westminster Conservatory at Nassau Presents Trio Brillante
on November 15
Members of the Westminster Conservatory faculty will perform
as "Trio Brillante" on Thursday, November 15, at 12:15
p.m. in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau
St. in Princeton, N.J. Trio Brillante includes Katherine McClure,
flute; Melissa Bohl, oboe; and Esma Pasic-Filipovic, piano. Westminster
Conservatory at Nassau recitals are held on the third Thursday
of the month, September through May (except for December). Admission
is free and open to the public.
Opera Theater at Westminster Presents L’Enfant
Prodigue and L’Enfant et les Sortilèges
on November 17-18
Westminster will present two French operas this semester: Debussy's
L’Enfant Prodigue and Ravel’s L’Enfant
et les Sortilèges with Daniel Beckwith, music director,
and Marc Verzatt, stage director. The operas will be sung in French
with English surtitles. Performances are Saturday, November 17,
at 8 p.m. and Sunday, November 18 at 3 p.m. in The Playhouse on
the Westminster campus. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for

Westminster Conservatory Faculty Recital Features the
Volanti Flute Quartet on November 25
The Westminster Conservatory faculty series continues with the
Volanti Flute Quartet performing on Sunday, November 25, at 3
p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus. The program
includes works by Walckiers, Maurice, Schmitt, Damase and Bozza.
The Quartet includes flutists Jill Crawford, Katherine McClure,
Barbara Highton Williams, and Ellen Deerberg. Tickets are $10

Rider Art Gallery Lecture Series: "The Anti-Nude:
The Figure in Abstraction" on November 28
Professor of Fine Arts Deborah Rosenthal will conclude the “Naked
Facts” lecture series with "The Anti-Nude: The Figure
in Abstraction” on Wednesday, November 28, at 7 p.m. in
the Rider Art Gallery on the Lawrenceville campus. A New York
painter (Bowery Gallery), Rosenthal is also the recipient of an
NEA Critic's Grant for art writing. The series is free and open

Ken Cowan in Recital on November 28
As part of the Westminster Faculty Recital Series, Ken Cowan,
organ; Lisa Shihoten, violin, and invited guests will perform
works by Vierne and Liszt arranged for violin and organ by Ken
Cowan and works for violin, organ, and voice. This recital, which
is rescheduled from earlier in the semester, will be Wednesday,
November 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster

Rider Art Gallery Concert: Jazz with Tara Buzash and
Friends on November 29
This concert series, presented in the intimacy of the Rider Art
Gallery on the Lawrenceville campus, features Westminster Conservatory
faculty members. Jazz pianist Tara Buzash will be joined by friends
for an evening of jazz standards and new compositions on Thursday,
November 29, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
Westminster Symphonic Choir Performs Mahler's Symphony
No. 2 ‘Resurrection’ on November 30, December
1 and 2
As part of an exciting year of performances, the Westminster
Symphonic Choir will perform Mahler's Symphony No. 2 ‘Resurrection’
with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra conducted by Neeme
Järvi on Friday, November 30, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December
2, at 3 p.m. at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.
They will also perform Saturday, December 1, at 8 p.m. in the
Patriots Theater at the Trenton War Memorial in Trenton. They
will be joined by Twyla Robinson, soprano, and Westminster alumna

“Cool Yule Jazz V” on November 30
The Holidays at Westminster concert features faculty members
Philip Orr, piano; Jerry Rife, clarinet; and friends performing
jazz arrangements of holiday favorites on Friday, November 30,

Ring Nowell Holiday Concert by the Westminster Concert
Bell Choir on December 1 and 2
Celebrate the season with Yuletide classics performed on the
world’s largest range of English handbells, Choirchime®
instruments and more. The program will feature original works,
transcriptions of light classics and favorite English carols.
The concerts will be held on Saturday, December 1, at 8 p.m. and
Sunday, December 2, at 3 p.m. in the Bristol Chapel on the Westminster

A Candlelight Christmas by Westminster Williamson Voices
on December 1
This inspiring program by the Westminster Williamson Voices,
conducted by James Jordan, continues in the tradition of last
season’s popular Candlelight Christmas Concert. This year
it will be presented on Saturday, December 1, at 8 p.m. at the
Morrisville Presbyterian Church, 771 North Pennsylvania Avenue
in Morrisville, Pa. The program emphasizes a cappella music for
the season and music for choir and harp. The evening of reflective
music for the season will include premieres of works by Finnish
composer Jaakko Mäntyjärvi and Gerald Custer, as well
as the music of Vaughan Williams, Whitbourn, Lauridsen, Davies
and Wyers . Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and
seniors, and are available through the Westminster box office
