Veteran broadcast journalist Chris Wallace will
kick off the fall 2007 Rider University Lecture Series on Tuesday,
September 25, presenting A View from Washington at 7:30
p.m. in the Bart Luedeke Center (BLC) Theater. The lecture is
free and open to the public.
Wallace’s keynote address at Rider commemorates Constitution
Day, which will be observed nationally this year on September
17. A book signing will follow his talk in the BLC Lobby.
“The Rider Lecture Committee was looking for a speaker
who would appeal to students, faculty and community members,”
said Dave Keenan, director of campus activities. “Mr. Wallace
will have particular appeal to those in the areas of journalism
and communications. We know his talk will be very insightful.”
Wallace is the host of Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace
(FNS), Fox Broadcasting Company’s Sunday morning public
affairs program. He also contributes to the network’s political
and election news coverage. He joined the Fox Network in 2003.
As host of FNS, Wallace has conducted interviews with
many newsmakers, including all the contenders for the 2008 Presidential
campaign, top national and international figures, and his controversial
interview with former President Bill Clinton about the Clinton
Administration’s actions concerning Bin Laden.
Before joining Fox News, Wallace worked at ABC News for 15 years,
where he served as the chief correspondent for Primetime Thursday
and as a guest host for Nightline.
During his career, Wallace has won every major award for broadcast
journalism, including a Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award,
three Emmys, the George Foster Peabody Award and the George Polk
Award.
In 2004, Wallace wrote Character: Profiles in Presidential
Courage. The book was widely touted as an informative study
of American presidential leadership.
Prior to joining ABC News, Wallace worked at NBC News, where
he served as the chief White House correspondent from 1982 to
1989. While at NBC News, Wallace covered the 1980, 1984 and 1988
presidential campaigns as well as the Democratic and Republican
conventions in those years. Wallace also anchored Meet the
Press from 1987-1988 and anchored the Sunday edition of
NBC Nightly News from 1982-1984 and 1986-1987. He joined
