Ribbon Cutting Marks Re-opening of University Store
President Rozanski cuts the ribbon with the help of Follett senior managers, Rider administrators and the Bronc.

Rider President Mordechai Rozanski called the December 7th ribbon cutting ceremony to the newly renovated University Store “another wonderful opening.”

He said, “There has been a series of these recently, and we are delighted to do that for the benefit of the University and our students. The University Store has gone through a gorgeous renovation.”

It marked Rider’s ninth ribbon cutting since the fall of 2005. The other ceremonies included the Student Recreation Center (SRC), the new residence hall facilities, the Linda Luedeke Lobby in the Bart Luedeke Center, the small studio theater now called The Spitz, the freshman biology lab, the 24-hour study lounge in Moore Library, Cranberry's snack bar and the Athletics Hall of Fame Room in the SRC.

The renovation project included new light fixtures to highlight inventory and displays, color-coordinated carpeting and paint, and new clothing, book and display racks in a rich wood finish. A new, larger cashiers’ station will allow larger volumes of customers to be served more quickly. The store’s entrance is highlighted by wood flooring with the Rider University logo, a stunning feature.

President Rozanski recognized the Follett Higher Education Foundation for making the store renovation possible. “I’d like to acknowledge first and foremost Follett’s financial contribution to this project and thank them for the effective way they partnered with Rider every day to meet the needs of our students,” he said. He introduced the members of the Follett senior management team, who attended the ceremony – Kim Myers, regional manager; Howard Taylor, vice president and director of operations; Dave Klein, vice president of sales and operations; and Joe Flanagan, vice president of marketing and sales.

President Rozanski also praised the work of several local firms to transform the store, including D’Agostino Construction, Kubiak Electric, Giginis Painting and Gillespie Flooring. He also thanked the Rider group – Julie Karns, vice president for finance; Phil Voorhees, assistant vice president for facilities management; Joseph Judge, general manager of the store; and the entire store staff “for all the planning and hard work that went into making this renovation such a success.”
