Rider Conducted Performing Arts Workshop for Area High School Students

Dr. Patrick Chmel, chairman of Rider's University's fine arts department and director of the fall production of "Urinetown," welcomes 200 high school students from eight schools for day-long perfomring arts workshop. After Chmel discussed the hilarious musical, the high school students were treated to the first act of the play and were able to ask questions of the university student cast. In the afternoon, workshop participants learned about Rider's Westminster Choir College and heard the Williamson Voices perform several selections with Dr. James Jordan conducting. The students were able to interact with the choir members. The high schools attending were Lawrence, Princeton, Trenton Central, Robbinsville, Allentown, West Windsor-Plainsboro, Upper Freehold and South Hunterdon. Rider and the Central New Jersey Education Foundation Partnership sponsored the workshop.
