Rider Trustees Elect Three Officers, Three New Board Members

The Rider University Board of Trustees has elected three new officers for 2006-07 and approved three new board members. Five are Rider alumni.

The board elected Gary L. Shapiro, owner and president of Tropico Management, LP of St. Croix, as chairman of the board. A 1972 Rider accounting graduate, Shapiro succeeds Paul J. Lang, a retired vice president of The Prudential Insurance Company of America and a 1968 Rider alumnus, who served as board chair for four years and has been a board member for eight years.

The board also elected Thomas J. Lynch, CEO of Tyco Electronics of Princeton, as vice chair and Bonnie Dimun, president of Dynamics for Change, Inc., as secretary. Lynch graduated from Rider in 1975 with a degree in accounting. Dimun earned her Rider undergraduate degree in business education in 1967 and a M.A. degree in guidance and counseling in 1971.

Elected to three-year board terms are: Nancy H. Becker, retired founder and president of Nancy H. Becker Associates; Gregory A. Church, chairman, president and chief operating officer of Church Capital Management of Yardley, PA; and Mark C. DeMareo, assistant superintendent of schools in Jackson. Church received a bachelor’s degree in finance in 1978 and an MBA degree in 1982 both from Rider. DeMareo earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 1978 from Rider’s Westminster Choir College.

“Each are successful leaders in their fields and bring expertise and insight to the board that will be beneficial to Rider’s renewal and educational mission,” said Rider President Mordechai Rozanski. “Gary Shapiro brings exceptionally strong leadership to the board and to our institutional renewal efforts. I want to express deep appreciation to Paul Lang for his outstanding leadership as board chair and his commitment to Rider.”
