The President’s Council of Rider University,
comprised of alumni who are at the highest leadership levels of
their companies and organizations, met for the first time on Wednesday,
September 20, at Wawa Corporate University in Wawa, PA.
Convened by Rider President Mordechai Rozanski,
the Council has two main purposes: to create meaningful networking
opportunities for executives who have achieved significant success
in their careers; and to provide valuable advice to President
Rozanski on issues and opportunities that will
advance the mission of the University.
Howard Stoeckel '67, vice chairman and CEO of
Wawa, Inc. and a member of the Rider Board of Trustees, hosted
the initial meeting and offered a presentation to the group on
Wawa’s core ideology.
President Rozanski provided an update on Rider’s strategic
planning and renewal efforts, and Dr. Larry Newman,
dean of the College of Business Administration, discussed some
of the distinctive initiatives the College is incorporating in
its curriculum.
Alumni attending the President’s Council meeting included:
Robert Christie '76, president and CEO of 3E Company;
Anthony Dimun '65, chairman of Nascent Enterprises,
Inc.; Scott Fox '77, vice chairman and COO of
ING Investment Management; Andrew Gatto '69,
chief executive officer, Russ Berrie and Company, Inc.;

'83, president and chief executive officer, Greater Philadelphia
Chamber of Commerce; Arthur Stainman '65, senior
managing director, First Manhattan Company; Howard Stoeckel
'67, vice chairman and chief executive officer, Wawa, Inc.; and
Elliott Wahle '73, chairman, Levitz Furniture.
President Rozanski said, “I am truly inspired by the accomplishments
of the alumni who participated in the Council’s initial
gathering. While their respective paths to professional achievement
vary, there are notable similarities, especially in their experiences
at Rider. What we learned on September 20th is what we hear from
our students everyday; that it is the special bond between students
and faculty that distinguishes a Rider education and sets the
stage for our students to find significant career and life successes.
I look forward to future meetings of the President’s Council
in the months ahead.”
