The 2006-2007 year is Dr. Joe Miller’s
first season as Westminster’s director of choral
activities, and he has planned two extraordinary programs for
his inaugural concerts. On Friday, October 20 he will conduct
the 175-voice Westminster Symphonic Choir in a concert entitled
“Beginnings and Endings” that will focus on the universal
themes of journey, light, love and life. The concert will be presented
in Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church on Nassau Street in
Princeton, N.J.
On Saturday, November 11, Dr. Miller will conduct
the 32-voice Westminster Choir in a performance of Maurice Duruflé’s
magnificent Requiem, as well as works by Bach, Tormis,
Poulenc, Mantyjärvi and Kverno. The concert will begin at
8 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus.
Westminster will also celebrate the opening of
the new Princeton High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday,
October 14 by participating in a day-long arts festival at the
high school and along Walnut Lane. The festival will include tours
of the new facility, performances by the Westminster Chapel Choir
and the Westminster Symphonic Choir. Community organizations will
present arts-related activities in booths on Walnut Lane, which
will be closed for the day. The alumni office is also hosting
an Alumni Fall Festival on the Westminster campus in conjunction
with the high school opening. To learn more about the alumni events,
