’93 Accounting Grad Joins Wiss & Company as Partner

Edward G. O’Connell

Edward G. O’Connell, CPA, a 1993 graduate of Rider University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, joined Wiss & Company, LLP, a regional leader in the accounting and consulting industry, as partner on September 1.

O’Connell joins Wiss from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) where he served as an inspection specialist. Prior to this position, he had more than 13 years of experience in public accounting, serving public and private organizations in technology, service, retail and manufacturing industries. He has extensive experience in both financial audits and audits of internal control over financial reporting.

O’Connell’s experience has included working with companies operating in technologically dependent industries. These industries include telecommunications, voice-over-the-Internet, software development, and Internet-based entities. He has had extensive experience in auditing computerized data systems and controls to effectively examine critical entity data. In the technology arena, he has extensive knowledge of accounting issues related to revenue recognition and equity transactions.

O’Connell is a certified public accountant in New Jersey and New York and a certified fraud examiner. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he has served on the society’s Auditing and Accounting Committee since 2002. Previously, he served on the society’s membership and entertainment committees. He and his family reside in Old Bridge, NJ.
