Vickie J. Weaver |
Vickie J. Weaver, director of the
department of public safety at Rider, has been elected Mid-Atlantic
Regional Director for the International Association of Campus
Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).
Weaver was sworn to office on June 27 in Orlando, FL, by the
IACLEA Board of Directors. IACLEA is an association that advances
public safety for educational institutions by providing educational
resources, advocacy, and professional development services. It
represents more than 1,000 colleges and universities in 20 countries.
Weaver’s regional jurisdiction covers eight states and the
District of Columbia.
“I am honored to have been selected for this prestigious
position,” said Weaver. “I plan to reach as many non-members
in this region as I can to encourage them to join and become active
members and to learn how I can best represent their interests
and address their concerns.”
Weaver will work closely with Steven J. Healy, Princeton University
Director/Chief of Police, who was sworn in as IACLEA President,
and other board members to ensure that IACLEA’s strategies
come to fruition. Healy’s orientation includes implementing
a more focused membership campaign with a goal of adding 500 new
members within two years, increasing partnerships and collaborations
and establishing a formal campus public safety professional certification
program.
A member of Rider's security staff since 1986, Weaver has risen
through the ranks to her current position as director of public
safety. In this capacity she is responsible for the 24-hour public
safety of two campus communities, overseeing 32 employees and
approximately 30 student workers as well as maintaining full liaison
with federal, state, and local police and fire officials.
Weaver’s work is highly regarded by the New Jersey College
and University Public Safety Association (NJ CUPSA). She is the
recipient of NJ CUPSA’s President’s Award and Lifetime
Achievement Award.
Weaver retired from the U.S. Army Reserves with an Honorable
Discharge in 2004. Her numerous citations include three U.S. Army
Commendation Medals, two U.S. Army Achievement Medals, a U.S.
Army Reserve Component Medal and Overseas Service Medal.
“Attaining my latest post would not have been possible
without the support of the Rider community, especially
President Rozanski, Dean Campbell and
my staff,” said Weaver. “I look forward to both promoting
IACLEA, and also proudly representing Rider University.”
