125 Honor Howard Schwartz at Retirement Reception

Several alumni from communication program whom Dr. Howard Schwartz had as students joined faculty and staff to honor him at a retirement reception in the atrium of the new Student Recreation Center. In all, 125 people attended the Friday evening, December 9 affair.

Gathering for a photograph with Dr. Schwartz and his wife,Harriet, (third and fourth from right) are (from left to right) Rip Pfeiffer ’77 and his wife, Beverly; Michael (son) ’03, Maureen (wife) and Gregory Church ’78, ’82; Harriet and Howard Schwartz, and Jill ‘72 and Wayne Canastra ’72. Jill and Wayne Canastra, Gregory Church and Reginald Lorjuste all spoke about their fond memories of Dr. Schwartz who had served on the communication faculty and as department chair for 37 years.

The Lorjuste family was on hand to praise Dr. Schwartz. From left to right are Gregory Lorjuste ’04, Reginald Lorjuste ’00 and his wife Artricia ’04.
