Kaleidoscope Chamber Series Presents Music of J.S. Bach and Sons on Baroque and Modern Instruments Friday, December 9

The Kaleidoscope Chamber Series will present "Christmas with the Bach Family" as part of the Holidays at Westminster festival on Friday, December 9 at 8 p.m. The program will include sacred and secular chamber music for voice, flutes, strings, and continuo by J.S. Bach and three of his sons. The concert will be presented in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster Choir College campus and will feature performances by faculty members of Westminster Conservatory, the community music school of Westminster Choir College of Rider University. An Evening of Readings and Carols on December 9 and 10

Westminster will present its annual Evening of Readings and Carols in the Princeton University Chapel on Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10, at 8 p.m. An inspiring evening filled with pageantry, the event will feature performances by several choirs, organ and brass, alternating with readings that reflect the season and the diversity of the community. Audience members are invited to participate by singing traditional Christmas carols. Both performances are SOLD OUT!

Westminster Children's Choirs to Present Family Christmas Concerts on December 10 and 11

The three Westminster Conservatory Children's Choirs, conducted by Patricia Thel, will present their annual Family Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 10, and Sunday December 11, at 3 p.m. The choirs are the Schola Choir (grades 2 and 3), the Children's Choir (grades 4 and 5) and the Cantus Choir (grades 6 to 8), which is the Middle School Honors Choir. The concert is entitled Songs of Peace for the Season. The program features arrangements for children's voices of holiday favorites. A highlight will be the world premiere of Christmas Bells, a setting by Jon Magnussen of Longfellow's poem "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day." The audience will also be invited to join the choir in singing several Christmas carols. The ensemble will be accompanied by Don Dolan, piano; James Goldsworthy, organ, and Barbara Witmer, recorder. The Westminster Conservatory's Community Orchestra and the Westminster Community Chorus will perform "A Holiday Celebration" on Thursday, December 15, at 8 p.m. The program will include excerpts from Handel's "Judas Maccabeus," Vaughan Williams' "Fantasia on Christmas Carols," and Mendelssohn's "There shall a Star."
