The Westminster Jubilee Singers and conductor J. Donald Dumpson will perform with the legendary Sweet Honey in the Rock at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) on Saturday, December 17 at 8 p.m.

The ensemble will join Sweet Honey in the New Jersey premiere of The Nativity, Bernice Johnson Reagon's choral setting of the story of the birth of Jesus from the book of Luke in the Bible. Jubilee will also perform a solo set that will include some of the works for which it has become known: I'll Never Turn Back No More and Grandma's Hands.

Composed of Westminster students, the Westminster Jubilee Singers perform music from the African-American tradition. Sweet Honey in the Rock is the Grammy Award-winning African American female a cappella ensemble with deep musical roots in the sacred music of the black church - spirituals, hymns, gospel - as well as jazz and blues. The ensemble was profiled earlier this year on the PBS American Masters program.

"We're delighted that the Westminster Jubilee Singers will have the opportunity to perform with such accomplished artists," says Westminster Director and Dean Robert Annis. "It promises to be an exciting and inspiring evening."
