Westminster Family Weekend, held this year on October 28 and 29, is an annual program that traditionally attracts students' families--moms, dads, sisters, and brothers--to enjoy a little slice of "college life" on the Princeton campus of Rider University. In addition to the families, all members of the campus community are invited to join in the festivities.
The weekend starts off with giving families the chance to sit in on classes and choir rehearsals that are occurring throughout the day on Friday. In the evening, the community will come together to hear performances in the Student Showcase and Westminster Kantorei concert in Bristol Chapel at 8pm. Saturday continues with opportunities to witness the talent of Westminster students and faculty. This year, the voice master class will be taught by J.J. Penna, associate professor of piano and voice, at 10 a.m. in the Playhouse, while the piano master classes will be led by Dr. Jim Goldsworthy, associate professor of piano and voice, at 11a.m .in Williamson Hall.
Guests will be invited to sit in on rehearsals and concerts by the Westminster Concert Bell Choir, The Westminster Chapel Choir, the Westminster Schola Cantorum, and the Westminster Opera Theatre during the day. At 7 p.m. in Bristol Chapel, families will be able to hear faculty soloists and the Westminster Choir in concert. Following this, everyone can mingle, meet student leaders, and enjoy entertainment at the coffeehouse on Saturday evening in the Playhouse
at 9 p.m.
"Family Weekend is a great way for parents, siblings, and friends to see the Westminster campus in full swing," said Melissa Dennis, student life coordinator in the Office of the Associate Dean of Students at Westminster. "We hope many are able to join us in the festivities."
