Rider head tennis coach Ed Torres recognized Alex D’Amico’s talent on the court, pushing him to maximize his ability. D’Amico, a second-year Andrew J. Rider Scholar, gave the student address during the Founder’s Day program on Saturday, November 8, focusing on the role of mentors in helping students strive to reach his or her potential. More

In his popular 2002 book The Tipping Point, author Malcolm Gladwell argues that popular movements spread in a viral fashion. As these phenomena expand, they eventually rise to a moment of critical mass, or, as he calls it, the tipping point. To Dr. E. Todd Weber, this phenomenon is key to the notion of leadership, and he invoked it during his faculty address to the newest class of Andrew J. Rider Scholars on November 8. More

  • Family Weekend at Lawrenceville
    Rider University’s Family Weekend drew students and their families to the Lawrenceville campus for three days of fun from November 7 to 9. There was something for everyone, including performances, athletic games and the Founder’s Day program, which recognized 62 Andrew J. Rider Scholars. Students and their families also had a chance to see the men’s basketball team get a win and some of Rider’s talented performers appear in the fall theater production, Cabaret.


  • Pulitzer Prize Winner Diaz to Share 'Wondrous' Tale
    Come hear Pulitzer Prize-winning author Junot Diaz as he shares excerpts from his tale The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao during a public reading at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, in the BLC Theater. The event is part of the University’s Educational Opportunity Program Distinguished Writers Series. Diaz was awarded a 2008 Pulitzer Prize for his novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

  • Women’s Basketball Participates in National Young Readers Week
  • To be able to read a defense on a basketball court, you first have to know how to read. That was the message that head coach Lynn Milligan and the Rider University women’s basketball team brought to two elementary schools in Trenton on Thursday, November 13, as part of National Young Readers Week. The Broncs visited the Cadwalader School and Wilson Elementary, reading to kids from kindergarten to fifth grade.

  • Ron Walker Fêted as an EOF Champion
  • Ron Walker, the associate vice president for Academic Affairs and Institutional Analysis at Rider University, was honored as an EOF Champion by the Educational Opportunity Fund of New Jersey at the organization’s 2008 Fall Conference and EOF 40th Anniversary Celebration in New Brunswick.
