Mary Kildea, administrative associate for the Department of Communication and Journalism, Harry I Naar, professor of Fine Arts, and Barbara Fruscione, assistant dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences, received the prestigious Frank N. Elliott Award for Distinguished Service during the Opening Fall Convocation on September 3. More


Most people go on vacation to relax and forget about the realities of life for a few days. In the case of Annabel Torres, however, it was a conversation with a stranger during a family trip that set her on course to return to college after more than 10 years. Along the way, the College of Continuing Education student has found that others believed in her as well, as she recently earned a $1,500 scholarship from the Pennington chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization, or P.E.O. International. More

Joyner, the director of Rider’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), might sit down with you for a chat, and don’t be surprised if he turns the conversation toward his days playing basketball for Rider or his experiences with EOP. Eligible Rider University employees have received an invitation to attend the semi-annual TIAA-CREF Open Enrollment Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, at 10 a.m. in Sweigart Auditorium. Eligible employees will be able to enroll in the University retirement plan effective October 2009. More

  • Rozanski Strikes Positive Notes at Fall Convocation
    Rider University President Mordechai Rozanski convened Fall Convocation to begin the new academic year on Thursday, September 3, in the Bart Luedeke Center. He opened by reiterating his springtime Town Hall pronouncement that he would rather be at Rider than anywhere else. “While we haven’t completely escaped the impact of the economy’s downturn or the need to enact budget constraints, we have, by and large, managed our challenges wisely, proactively, collaboratively and, most importantly, successfully,” Rozanski stated.

  • Rider Welcomes Two New Deans to Campus
    Two new deans will rely on their academic experience and love of knowledge to help steer Rider’s academic future. Dr. Patricia Mosto is the new dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences (CLAES), while Dr. Sharon J. Sherman of Hopewell, N.J., is the new dean of the School of Education.

  • Rebovich Institute Launches 'Governing New Jersey' Series
    Rider University will host the Governing New Jersey series in September when all three major candidates in the state’s gubernatorial race will appear in the University’s Bart Luedeke Center Theater over the course of a week to discuss their views on the issues that face the Garden State. The Governing New Jersey series is sponsored by the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics.

  • New Student Move-In Day Photo Gallery
    Freshmen and new students got their first taste of Rider tradition at New Student Move-In Day on Sunday, September 6, on the Lawrenceville campus. As new students and their families arrived, they found their cars besieged by groups of Bronc Buddies, who were there to promptly empty the contents of the stuffed SUVs and car trunks and haul them off to the new students’ dorm rooms, all in a matter of minutes.
    • Cranberry Fest Celebrates 30th Anniversary at Rider
    • Rider University has celebrated its heritage every September since 1979 with Cranberry Fest, and this year’s 30th anniversary celebration on Thursday, September 10, figures to be one of the biggest and best yet. This year’s event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Daly Dining Hall.

    • Rider’s Newest Residence Halls Are Also Its Greenest
    • There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the doors of Rider’s new and much-anticipated West Village Residential Halls on Thursday, September 10, at 11:30 a.m. The University’s first buildings constructed to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standard. A number of innovative measures have been taken to make the construction of the two residence halls environmentally sustainable and “green.”
