Susie Campbell
has a dream, and she’s not ashamed to share it. It’s a vision this
vibrant redhead from Fairfield, Conn., has had since high school,
and one she plans to keep. “I want to be the Secretary-General of
the United Nations,” said Campbell, who began her journey on the
right foot by participating in Rider’s Model United Nations delegation.

hold of the opportunity and adds his creative flair. More

Environmental sustainability may be an elemental part of his job, but don’t call Mike Reca “green.” Rider’s new associate vice president for Facilities and Auxiliary Services is no stranger to either the Lawrenceville or Princeton campuses, having learned both inside and out during his 18 years at the University. of the inaugural Ann Giovanelli Awards, were among the 76 honors
bestowed at the Rider University Awards Banquet on Sunday, April
27, in the Cavalla Room.
Design,
Sell, Succeed

continuing a growing tradition of excellence in the Center for
Entrepreneurial Studies.
ASM
Puts Rider Student and Grad Under the Microscope
Sometimes, even microscopic things can produce gigantic returns.
That was the case for one Rider student, as well as a 2008 graduate,
when they were recently recognized by the American Society for
Microbiology (ASM), the oldest and largest scientific society
of individuals interested in the microbiological sciences.

Symphony
of a Thousand
For the past year, music lovers have been anticipating the Philadelphia
Orchestra’s performances of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 8.
Known as the “Symphony of a Thousand,” this monumental work is
rarely performed because it calls for such large forces - orchestra,
organ, four choruses and eight soloists. Students in the Westminster
Symphonic Choir spent most of the spring semester preparing with
conductor Joe Miller for their part in these historic performances.
Undergraduate
Researchers and Scholars Earn Awards
The Independent Scholarship and Creative Activity Presentations
showcased the outstanding academic and creative work of more
than 40 Rider University students on Wednesday, April 30. The
fifth annual Undergraduate Research Scholars Awards were also
presented to four rising seniors and one rising junior.
Weaving
a Web of Experience
By the end of May, two regional businesses will have new Web
sites up and running. The businesses did not have to seek out
and pay a small fortune to a Web design firm for the service.
Instead, Rider University students in the Advanced Interactive
Design class were given the chance to flaunt their Web-savvy
abilities and develop relationships by designing the sites that
now drive these businesses. For the class, the opportunity was
priceless.
