Young: Rider Softball Field Named for Benefactors
Even though the Rider softball team swept a doubleheader from
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rival Siena on April 12, the
day’s biggest hit may have come between games when the Herb
and Joan Young Softball Field was officially dedicated before
a sparkling new grandstand filled with fans, family members and
friends of Broncs Athletics.
The
Rider News Dominates N.J. Press Association Contest
The Rider News took home 11 awards, including four first-place
titles in the 2008 New Jersey Collegiate Press Association (NJCPA)
Better College Newspaper contest. Because the student newspaper
won 10 prizes, it also received the Sweepstakes Award, in recognition
of earning the most titles for a four-year college. It’s
also the most awards The Rider News has received in a
single contest.

Breaks Ground on New Residence Halls
They wanted it, and they got it. Citing the desire of an increasing
number of students to experience campus life residentially, Rider
President Mordechai Rozanski led a team of ceremonial shovel-wielding
dignitaries in breaking ground at the site of the University's
new West Village residence halls on Tuesday, April 15, on the
Lawrenceville campus.

It’s the end of the academic year, and besides term papers
and finals, there’s a greater challenge that looms over
students’ heads. It lurks behind closed doors. As students
move out of dorms and apartments, many will face a year’s
worth of unwanted items. Fortunately, students in Foundations
of Leadership (LDP 200) will hold “Don’t trash it!
Recycle it for those who need it!” on Friday, April 25,
on the Lawrenceville campus.

Opera Theater Presents La Clemenza di Tito
Westminster Opera Theater will present Mozart's La Clemenza
di Tito on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, at 8 p.m.
in the Princeton Regional Schools Performing Arts Center in
Princeton. The production will be fully staged with orchestra
and sung in Italian with English supertitles. The music director
is Daniel Beckwith, and the stage director is Marc Verzatt.
Broncs Run the Stable at NIT/MBWA Awards
Three members of the Rider University basketball program were
honored at the 75th annual NIT/Metropolitan Basketball Writers
Association College Basketball Awards Dinner at the Giants Stadium
Club in East Rutherford, N.J., on Thursday, April 17.
