The College of Business Administration will officially debut the new Global Supply Chain Management program in the fall, and recently hired executive-in-residence Tan Miller as its director. One of the fastest growing fields today, supply chain management includes the steps a company takes to transform raw materials and components into a delivered final product and service, including sourcing, acquiring, conversion and logistics management. More


As a college student and future educator, Jessica Macheda '09 knows the importance of keeping in tune with national and global issues. The graduating senior was invited to the University Presidential Inaugural Conference in Washington, D.C., which aims to encourage youths to become more involved in politics and develop a greater awareness of the world around them. Deborah Rosenthal chuckles a bit at the inquiry, and you know it’s not the first time she’s heard it. She repeats the question just asked of her: “What kind of paintings do I paint? I always say there are two kinds of painting – good and bad. I’m constantly striving to do the former. I’m interested in figures and landscapes that aren’t so much a moment captured in time, but that come from a desire to think about order in the universe,” explained Rosenthal, a professor of Fine Arts at Rider University. “My paintings come from a state of mind that is saturated with images from landscapes, and they reflect my internal thoughts. They are images that take us outside of this time and place.” More

Some people get all the breaks – even, sometimes, twice in one day. For Jeanne Muzi, the first one is all she needed. Muzi, who received her teacher certification from Rider in 2002, was elated this fall to learn she had been named the New Jersey Teacher of the Year. The joy of her selection allowed Muzi to endure the agony that struck her later that day when a misstep down a ladder inside her Lawrence Township home resulted in a badly broken ankle. More

  • Rider Will Replace Administrative Technology Systems
    Rider University is about to begin a multiyear, university-wide project to replace its administrative technology systems, some of which are nearing obsolescence. This new system, called the Banner Unified Digital Campus, will replace the multiple systems that currently run the University’s major business functions and when fully implemented, will give Rider all of its major administrative technology operations on a single, integrated system for the first time in its history.

  • Matticola Launches Dramatic Hudson River Rescue
    Robert Matticola ’88 remembers standing beside his desk inside the NY Waterway headquarters on the afternoon of January 15. It was his birthday, and Matticola was looking forward to knocking off a little early from his job at the Hudson River ferry service. His plans changed rather suddenly when someone yelled, “Plane!” Matticola looked out the window of his Manhattan office on the Hudson River, struggling to believe what he saw. Incredibly, there was a jet floating on the water.

  • ‘Wild’ Night for Broncs
    The Rider University baseball team received its 2008 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship rings at a ceremony on Saturday, January 31, that featured former Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams as the keynote speaker. A reception was held in the Rider Hall of Fame Atrium in the Student Recreation Center, followed by a dinner in the Daly Dining Hall Mercer Room.

  • Rider Welcomes Fifth Cohort of Chinese Students from Sanda University
  • Recently, Rider President Mordechai Rozanski hosted a reception at his home for a group of 30 newly arrived Chinese students and their three accompanying faculty members. The house was filled with excitement and hearty welcomes as the Chinese students met a number of the Rider faculty and staff with whom they would interact as they embarked on their studies in the College of Business Administration.

  • Students, Staff Participate in Service to Honor MLK
  • Just days before President Barack Obama was inaugurated, he called upon Americans to serve by volunteering on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and throughout the year. And while Rider’s annual MLK Days of Service will not be held until later this month, some members of the University community answered the 44th president of the United States’ call to action by participating in service activities on the federal holiday.

  • Westminster Conservatory Teaches the Very Young
  • Can the critical pedagogy philosophy of music education have an impact on preschool children? “Yes,” says LuAnn Longenecker, head of the Early Childhood Department at Westminster Conservatory, the community music school of the Westminster College of the Arts. Longenecker was selected to present her research on the subject to leaders in the field at a meeting of the Music Educators National Conference’s (MENC) Early Childhood Special Research Interest Group at the University of Delaware in January.
