Richard Woo grew up in Piscataway, New Jersey and has studied the piano since age four. He earned his Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy and Music Education from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, where he studied with Ingrid Clarfield. He has since continued his studies with Paul Hoffmann. Recent performances include a Westminster Conservatory Faculty Series recital; the Dorothy Taubman Seminar, directed last spring by Maria del Pico Taylor and Sondra Tammam; a master class conducted by pianist Dorian Leljak; and the Westminster Choir College Student Showcase as part of the Nassau at Four Concert Series in Princeton, New Jersey. Former teachers of note include Qian Xin Mao and Marjorie Sarosky.
Mr. Woo teaches piano and music theory at Westminster Conservatory of Music. He also serves as an adjunct instructor of undergraduate keyboard skills at The College of New Jersey. In addition, he teaches on the piano faculty at Hunterdon Academy of the Arts in Flemington, New Jersey, and maintains independent piano studios in Princeton and Piscataway.
