Kate Campbell performs frequently as a soloist and chamber musician with a special focus on the music of today. She has worked closely with many leading composers, including Pulitzer Prize winners Steve Reich and David Lang, and she premieres new works by emerging composers each year. Kate is the pianist for the New York-based contemporary chamber ensemble REDSHIFT. She has also had the pleasure of performing with some of the nation’s leading contemporary chamber music groups, such as the Bang on a Can All-Stars, eighth blackbird, and SIGNAL. Recent projects include a bi-coastal tour and arts residency at Cal State Hayward, as well as solo performances for the Bay Area series New Keys, The Bang on a Can Summer Festival, and the Switchboard Music Festival in San Francisco. She has recorded for Naxos and New Amsterdam Records.
Kate is on the piano faculty at Westminster Conservatory. Previously, she was Adjunct Professor of Music at the University of San Francisco. Kate has a B.M. – Piano Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Master’s in Piano Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was the winner of the Beethoven Competition and a finalist in Wisconsin Public Radio’s Neale Silva Young Artist Award.
