Chao Tang was born in China, and received his B.M. degree at Tongji University, Shanghai.  His piano teachers included Ms. Shi-yu Zhou and Mr. Huan Qi.  Mr. Tang is currently studying for his M.M. degree in piano performance and pedagogy at Westminster Choir College of Rider University.  He studies piano pedagogy with Ms. Phyllis Lehrer and Ms. Ingrid Clarfield, and piano performance with Dr. James Goldsworthy.

Chao Tang was the first prizewinner in the professional level of the 2010 Changjiang Piano Competition in Shanghai, China. He performed piano concerto with orchestra when he was 15 years old, and also accompanied with several orchestras in China.

Chao Tang has taught in his private piano studio since 2007, and as Westminster Conservatory of Music faculty since 2011.
