Submission Requirements

  • Open to choreographers 18 years and older.
     
  • Any ballet or contemporary dance work not exceeding 13 minutes and created within the last year will be eligible.
     
  • Choreographic pieces must be set on a minimum of three dancers.  Solos, duet or pas de deux pieces are not eligible.
     
  • Choreographers must complete an application form and fee, and submit a six minute you-tube link to their work.  The piece will be reviewed by the panel.  If selected to present in person, choreographers will be notified of the date and time of their audition.
     
  • Selected choreographers will audition their piece in front of a diverse panel of four dance professionals.  All choreographers invited to audition will receive feedback on their work.
     
  • Selected choreographers must be prepared to audition at least six minutes of their work for the panel.  If there are multiple sections, choreographers must be prepared to show four minutes from each section.
     
  • Five choreographers will be selected to perform their work on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the theater in the Bart Luedeke Center at Rider University.
     
  • One of the selected choreographers will be chosen to set their piece on Rider students to be performed in the following year’s repertory during Rider Dances.
     
  • The five selected choreographers will receive an honorarium of $500.00 as well as feedback about their piece.
     
  • Lighting must use a generic plot; technical needs must be minimal.
     
  • The five selected choreographers will participate in an open discussion about the artistic process with the adjudicators and audience members following the performance.
     
  • Panelists will curate the May 3, 2014 evening performance.
