About the 2014 Competition
The Rider University Emerging Choreographers’ Showcase will develop and present emerging choreographers for ballet and contemporary dance as well as build and expand engaged audiences for dance. The Emerging Choreographers’ Showcase will solicit new pieces from emerging artists throughout the region. The showcase will give aspiring dancemakers a platform to develop their artistic voices as well as an opportunity to present and develop an audience for their work.
Eligibility
This showcase is open to any emerging choreographer who is a US citizen or resident ("resident" is defined here as eligible and authorized to work in the US). There is no age limit, but the choreographer should be in the early stages of his/her professional career. The choreographer and his/her dancers will be expected to attend the technical rehearsal and premiere performance on Saturday May 3, 2014 in at Rider University in Lawrenceville NJ.
All videos and applications will be reviewed by the panel. 30 choreographers will be invited to audition their work in person on January 19th. 5 choreographers will be chosen to perform their pieces at Rider University on May 3rd, 7:30pm.
