2010 Faculty & Staff Team Fitness Challenge
December 16, 2009
Dear Rider Faculty and Staff:
The new year is just around the corner as is our yearly goal to make our resolutions and start afresh. If your New Year’s resolution is aimed at a healthier lifestyle, have we got the program for you!
Along with the Student Recreation Center professional staff, Rider Recreation Programs would like to invite you to partake in our annual Team Fitness Challenge. The structure of the program is based upon the idea that individuals from different departments on campus may share the same fitness/health goals and as such can benefit from achieving those goals together. Teams of three to four individuals, either from a department/division on campus or a group of friends, would form a team to support each other in our eightweek incentive program. Participants do not have to be members of the SRC to partake in the program. Each team will receive one complimentary informational session with a certified Personal Trainer to use at their discretion. In addition, faculty and staff who become new members of the SRC in January will receive the month of February free!
How does the program work? Beginning the week of January 4, and continuing every Thursday, you’ll stop by the front desk of the SRC and record your five new fitness/health goals on your program card (recording your body weight is optional). Your weekly goals can be anything from losing two pounds, exercising three times a week, eating a salad each day or drinking more water…anything you would like to set as a challenge for yourself. Each week, we’ll keep track of the goals you attain and for each goal attained, you will be entered in our raffle for our grand prize pack worth $250! Members on the most successful team at the end of the eight- week program will each receive more than $100 worth of prizes! Participants can also choose to be entered into the Weight Loss Challenge portion of the program, which awards the participant who loses the most weight over the course of the eight weeks. Last year’s participants lost more than 225 pounds together and achieved close to 200 individual goals they set for themselves.
For our New Year’s resolutions regarding our health and fitness, let’s make a long term commitment to ourselves and achieve our goals by motivating and supporting each other! The program begins with the New Year, a fresh start and a fresh attitude toward setting attainable goals for a healthier you.
Here’s to a healthy and fit 2010!
