Pre-Graduate Business Program

The Pre-Business Graduate program at Rider University is a semester long preparatory program offered to international students who wish to pursue their Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program but have not achieved the minimum TOEFL and/or GMAT scores required for full acceptance in the programs.

Through this program candidates will learn strategies for taking the TOEFL and GMAT tests, as well as increase their business vocabulary, strengthen their academic writing skills and learn how to make professional, business presentations. Students will also attend executive seminars, focusing on leadership, global business and personal development, among other topics.

Program Requirements
In addition to being academically qualified for the MBA or MAcc programs, students must have an iBT TOEFL score of at least 70 (500 on the paper version) or an IELTS score of at least 6.0 to be considered for the Pre-Business Graduate program. A GMAT score is not required, but students are encouraged to submit their scores, if available.

Program Curriculum
Students will take classes five days a week, for a total of 18-21 hours per week. All classes will be held at the Lawrenceville campus. Some courses offered are: 

  • Oral Communication and Presentation
    Build confidence and fluency in oral skills by participating in and conducting meetings, and organizing and giving professional presentations.
     
  • Business Writing
    Practice writing emails, memos, proposals, reports, and other common business written materials necessary for successful written communication in business.
     
  • GMAT Skills
    Develop test-taking and overall language skills for reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary to prepare for the GMAT.
     
  • TOEFL Preparation
    This all inclusive skills course will help students to improve their overall listening, grammar and reading skills as well as learning test-taking skills towards improving their TOEFL scores.
     
  • American Business Culture
    Through contemporary written and visual media, students will learn the business concepts, trends, values, current issues, and vocabulary of the corporate world as it relates to American culture and globally.

Start Dates and Cost
The Pre-Business Graduate program has three start dates through the year (spring, summer and fall semesters). For specific start dates, please contact the Office of Admission at global@rider.edu.  Costs listed below cover one semester of tuition, room and board, and other fees:

Application Process
In order to apply for the Pre-Business Graduate program, students should submit all required documentation for the MBA or MAcc programs, as outlined in the application and website. Upon acceptance of application and supplemental documentation, students will be contacted to confirm their intention to enroll in the program.
