Research Interests

Behavioral ecology of marine animals with an emphasis on blue crab biology.

Professional Experience

Dr Jivoff has conducted extensive research in the Barnegat Bay, and has been invited to present for institutions such as the Smithsonian Marine Station, the University of Delaware, Rutgers University, the Conrad Lorenz Institute in Vienna, and more. He is a member of the Barnegat Bay Partnership's Science and Technical Advisory Committee and volunteers for many secondary school programs and local environmental groups.

Topics include: Estuaries & Estuarine Ecology, Fisheries & Fisheries Decline, Habitat Loss & Restoration (ie impacts of bulkheads), Invasive Species (plants & animals), Blue crab biology, Marine invasive species in NJ, Impacts of bulk heads on species diversity and more.
