“Our daughter has found her creative voice and self-confidence because these camps have provided a safe environment in which she could take risks and improve her performing skills. As parents, we watch the final performance each year, and are always amazed at what can be accomplished in such a short amount of time.”
– Laura K.
If Musical Theater is your passion, look no further for the area's premier intensive training program. Our professional Teaching Artists travel to Princeton from New York City, and from all over the country, to share their passion for the craft with your students. Our week of acting, voice, and dance training will culminate in a performance of songs from RENT. All students will thrive in this program – both curious new performers, and accomplished young professionals will find a safe environment for risk-taking and learning.
To prepare for the first day of camp, students will be asked to sing a song that is appropriate for their voice in front of everyone. Although most of the music in the final performance will be for full ensemble, there will be opportunities for soloists. The students will also be asked to tell a story about themself. In the theater, we are all storytellers. They should choose a story from their life—it can be funny, it can be personal, it can be special to them. The story should be at least one minute long, and preferably no longer than three minutes. They will share their story, much like a monologue, in their acting class.
Students must be entering grades 6 through 8 in the fall of 2015. There are no audition requirements for acceptance into this camp. All students are welcome! Maximum enrollment is 30 students per camp.
Middle School Musical Theater Intensive will be held at the John Witherspoon Middle School in Princeton, located next door to Westminster Choir College. Students will pack their lunch and snack.
