New this year – Music of the Movies!

Keep it going through the summer with the fun-filled Keep It Going Summer Strings Camp. This exciting program is for violin, viola, cello, and string bass students in grades 3 through 9 who have had previous experience either through school or private lessons. Each day, students will have chamber music, fiddle, string orchestra, sectionals, and – new this year – Music of the Movies!   At the end of camp, parents will be amazed to hear what their children have learned in just one week when the students perform a special concert for family and friends!

Prerequisite
Students must be entering grades 3 through 9 in the fall of 2013. Students will be expected to bring their instruments to and from camp every day.

Schedule
This is a one-week camp, running Monday –Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. In addition to the sample daily activities listed above, students will have breaks, time to socialize with other students, and a time to enjoy the lunch they have packed from home.  Students can also register for scheduled private lessons through Westminster Conservatory for an additional fee (call 609-921-7104 for information).

Location
Keep It Going Summer Strings will be held at the John Witherspoon Middle School in Princeton, located next door to Westminster Choir College. Directions will be included in the confirmation packet.

$50 Late Fee added to tuition for registrations received one week prior to starting date of camp.

Fees include all class instruction and a Westminster Conservatory tote bag and T-shirt.  Optional lessons not included.

A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due with the application. The balance of the fee is due by June 1. Registrations received after June 1 must be paid in full. Cancellations after June 1 receive a refund (less deposit, above) only if another student can be placed from the waiting list.

Music of the Movies!
Did you ever wonder how music helps make a movie comedic, mysterious, or dramatic?  This year’s camp will have a special focus on Music of the Movies!  Repertoire will include scores from popular films as well as pieces by famous composers that were adapted for the movies.  Students will learn to hear movie music in a new way!
