Camp Director: Jessica LaPine and LuAnn Longenecker
Grades 2-4**
Four one-week camps (dates listed below)
9:15AM – 12:15PM
Requested by previous Musical Jamboree campers and families, Rainbows, Rhythms, and Ringing is for children who want to experience the Musical Jamboree format at an advanced level. Each morning’s schedule will include art time, choral singing and children's voice class, folk dancing and singing games, and playing choir chimes and Orff instruments.
Rainbows, Rhythms, and Ringing will offer four sessions this year. Each session runs for one week and offers a different theme. While we will follow the same weekly theme as Musical Jamboree, daily themes may be revised to provide a more age-appropriate experience. Families may choose to sign up for any number of weeks (see fee schedule below).
Requirement
**Open to children entering grades 2 through 4 in fall 2013.
Maximum Enrollment
12 children per session -- ALL registered campers will receive a Westminster Conservatory T-shirt (see registration form).
Schedule
Camp hours are Monday through Friday, 9:15AM – 12:15PM. Provisions may be made for before- and after-camp care (8:15AM – 1:15PM) at an additional cost; AM and PM care fees are available from Early Childhood Department Head LuAnn Longenecker and will also be included in the mid-June pre-camp packet. For further information, contact Mrs. Longenecker at 609-921-7104 or LLongenecker@rider.edu. Please let Mrs. Longenecker know if your child has any medical concerns about which we need to be aware prior to the start of camp.
Location
Rainbows, Rhythms, and Ringing will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton, located on Cherry Hill Road just off Route 206, only 5 minutes from the Westminster Choir College campus and downtown Princeton. All classrooms are air-conditioned with adjoining privacy bathrooms. Directions will be sent in the pre-camp confirmation packet.
**Due to increasing allergy concerns, each camper is to bring in a NUT-FREE daily snack from home. Families will be asked to provide allergy information, for the safety of all.
Session 1 – July 15–19
Musical Stories
This week promises to provide many creative outlets for our budding musicians as we experience musical storytelling through the works of composers, lyricists, choreographers, and librettists. We will celebrate the birth anniversaries of Benjamin Britten (1913) and Giuseppe Verdi (1813)!
Session 2 – July 22–26
Tales and Tunes
While visiting each country or region on this round-the-world journey, we will explore culture and music from that part of the world by way of a focus story.
Session 3 – July 29–August 2
Summer Vacation
Pack the car, load up the RV, and join us as we take in summer’s sights and sounds!
Session 4 – August 5–9
Musical Journeys
Come explore the world and its music as we sail, climb, and fly our way around. Together, we will make music while learning about the different environments on our planet Earth (and beyond)!
