Music education research shows that students ages 6 – 9 are at the peak age for beginning instrumental music lessons. This exciting summer program is for students entering grades 1 through 3, and gives them the hands-on experience of instrumental music study. Each student will get to choose their area of interest: violin, cello, or keyboard.

Requirements
Students should not have any previous experience playing the instrument that they choose to try out. Students must be entering grades 1 through 3 in the fall of 2013. Students entering fourth grade may sign up for Try It Out Seniors Camp.
Schedule
The morning session will include a Dalcroze movement class, an Orff instrumental class, and a group lesson on their instrument of choice. The afternoon session will include a full ensemble chorus, an improvisational movement class, and a group lesson on their instrument of choice. Students attending the full-day schedule are welcome and encouraged to choose a different instrument for the afternoon session.
Location
Try It Out Juniors will be held at the John Witherspoon Middle School in Princeton, right next door to Westminster Choir College. Directions will be included in the confirmation packet.

$50 Late Fee added to tuition for registrations received one week prior to starting date of camp.
Fees include a Westminster Conservatory tote bag and T-shirt. Instrument rental not included.
A non-refundable deposit of $100 is due with the application. The balance of the fee is due by June 1. Registrations received after June 1 must pay in full. Cancellations after June 1 receive a refund (less deposit, above) only if another student can be placed from a waiting list.
Instrument Rental Information
Students will be expected to rent a violin or cello from the any qualified rental programs in the area. More information on instrument rentals will be included in the confirmation packet. For students choosing keyboard, the Conservatory will provide keyboards for students to play in class only. Students should make arrangements to have a piano or electric keyboard at home on which to practice.
Final Concert
On the final day of camp, families and friends are invited to attend a final presentation. Parents will hear how much the students have learned in just two weeks.

For each friend that you refer to Try It Out Juniors summer camp, you will receive a discount on your Try It Out Juniors tuition provided the friend puts your name on their registration form in the Refer-a-Friend section.
Limit: 4 referrals per student
- If you register for the half day: $50 off your tuition per referral
- If you register for the full day: $75 off your tuition per referral
