Westminster Chamber Music Camp

for Piano, Winds, and Strings

Camp Directors: Galina Prilutskaya and Patricia Landy
Grades 6 – 12
June 28 – July 2 (Note: New dates from original brochure, due to snow days.)
9:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Celebrating its 9th season, Westminster Conservatory welcomes pianists, strings, and winds students to come join us for an exciting week of chamber music and fun. Collaboration, experimentation, and improvisation will be part of the experience as well as the study and performance of magnificent traditional repertoire from all style periods. The make-up of the chamber ensembles and the repertoire assigned will evolve around the participants who sign up:  their abilities, their instruments, their personalities and preferences. Our talented faculty will put everything into the mix and come up with a great program.

The week will conclude with “Ensemble Extravaganza” on Friday evening in one of Westminster Choir College’s prestigious halls where the students’ accomplishments will be celebrated in a formal concert.

All participants in this camp must be proficient in reading music and be able to learn music quickly and with some independence. All students must be entering grades 6 through 12 in the fall of 2014 and taking private lessons on the instrument(s) they wish to play at camp.

Placement Audition
Students should register for camp before scheduling their placement audition. To schedule the placement audition, families should contact the main office at 609-921-7104. At the audition, students will be asked to play a brief solo that demonstrates their playing ability, and will be asked to sight read. For best placement in ensembles, it is important for participants to register early and schedule their audition before the cut-off date of June 2, 2014.

Westminster Chamber Music Camp will be held on the Westminster Choir College campus in Princeton Hall. Directions will be sent in the confirmation packet.

The camp will run from Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Lunch will be served at the campus cafeteria. Friday night’s performance “Ensemble Extravaganza” will begin at 7:00 PM in Princeton.
