Piano Chamber Music Camp

for Pianists, Wind, and String Players

Camp Director: Patricia Landy
Guest Clinician:  Jayn Rosenfeld
Grades 7 – 12
July 15-19
9:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Come join us for an exciting week of chamber music and fun. Pianists, wind, and string players at the pre-college level will explore and experience the delight of playing chamber music written for piano and strings, piano and winds, and/or other combinations of piano and instrumental groupings. Students will have a chance to meet other musicians of similar abilities and interests and be coached by experienced Conservatory faculty.

Along with daily coaching sessions, this program will include master classes; supervised rehearsals; and classes covering chamber music literature, rehearsal techniques, and musicianship skills directly related to assigned ensemble pieces. Listening and understanding the tone production and musical qualities of the other instruments in each ensemble will be one of the key elements in all of the sessions.

Prerequisites
Pianists must have completed at least 5 years of private lessons. Other instrumentalists must have completed at least 3 years of private lessons. All students must be entering grades 7 through 12 in the fall of 2013. To facilitate appropriate placement in ensembles and choose repertoire, students will be asked to play a 10- to 15-minute audition. Participants should be prepared to play a brief solo to demonstrate their playing ability, and will be asked to sight read.

Location
Chamber Music Camp will be held on the Westminster Choir College campus in Princeton Hall. Directions will be sent in the confirmation packet.

Schedule
The camp will start at 9:30 AM and finish at 3:00 PM. There will be a short mid-morning break. Lunch will be served at the campus cafeteria.
