Preparation to teach French, German, or Spanish foreign languages is accomplished through a double major program requiring completion of the requirements of the major, general studies, and professional education major requirements. Teacher Candidates seeking New Jersey Certification in World Languages must take the Oral Proficiency Test (OPI) prior to graduation.
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures strongly recommends that Foreign Language Education majors study abroad to get better prepared for the New Jersey's OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview) test for teacher certification.
