General Information

Recommended Summer Undergraduate Course Load
Students may take two courses (a maximum of 7 credits) in each Summer I or Summer II session (day and/or evening.) Students must have approval from their Dean to exceed the amount of approved credits per session.

Recommended Summer Graduate Course Load
The recommended summer graduate course load is one-half that of a regular semester for each summer session. Please contact your program advisor for more specific information.

Course Requirements and Prerequisites
Students are expected to meet all course requirements and prerequisite. Course Schedules
Current Rider students MUST print their summer schedule by accessing their course information on line at myrider.rider.edu.  Schedules will not be mailed to current Rider students. Newly enrolled students will receive a bill and a summer schedule prior to the beginning of each summer session.

Photo Identification Card
A Rider University Bronc Photo ID is required to use the computer labs on campus, to check out books from the Library, and to take a make-up exam in the CCS office.

  • Lawrenceville Campus:
    Photo IDs are issued in the Bart Luedeke Center, Room 137, during normal business hours. The Photo ID office may be reached at 609-896-5234. There is no fee for the Photo ID.
  • Princeton Campus:
    Photo IDs are issued in the Associate Dean of Students Office (Scheide Student Center) during regular business hours. The Associate Dean of Students Office may be reached at 609-921-7100 ext. 8263.


  • Lawrenceville Campus:
    Students may park in the lot located in front of the Bart Luedeke Center. The parking area is ample and well lighted. All vehicles are required to be registered and have a parking permit decal. Students may register their vehicle in the Public Safety Office, located behind the Bart Luedeke Center on the left side. A student ID, driver’s license, registration, and insurance number must be provided to register a vehicle. There is no fee for the parking permit decal. The Public Safety office is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Princeton Campus:
    Students may part in Lot D (Student Parking) adjacent to Princeton Hall. Parking passes are available through Westminster’s Office of Public Safety (basement of Bristol Chapel). A student ID, driver’s license, registration, and insurance card must be provided to register a vehicle.


Student Activities

During summer sessions, Rider continues to be a vibrant community of learners. 

In addition to a wide variety of learning opportunities and great housing rates, students enrolled in Rider’s summer sessions can also take advantage of a number of (complimentary) student activities:

  • trips to Philadelphia,
  • visits to local attractions
  • movie passes
  • barbeques
  • and many others!

Online Courses Support

Rider University's online courses give your flexibility of participating in coursework anytime, anywhere. All online courses offered by the University are taught by the same Rider faculty and are as academically engaging as our classroom-based offerings.

  • Learning Platform: Rider's online courses are offered through Canvas, a learning management system. For more information, or to access tutorials about using Canvas, please visit the Canvas Tutorial website.  Students who experience problems logging in should contact the OIT HelpDesk at 609-219-3000.
  • Student Email: Official university communications will be sent to students’ Rider university email address. Students are expected to check their email on a frequent and consistent basis in order to stay current with university-related communications. In the online courses, Rider faculty members may utilize email for answering questions, providing feedback, collecting student assignments, etc. It is expected that students will use their Rider's email account for participation in online courses. Students can access Rider's email system (and learn how to forward their Rider email to an external account) by visiting webmail.rider.edu.
  • Help Desk: OIT HelpDesk professionals and technicians will assist you with the technical issues you encounter. Technical assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 609-219-3000 or emailing helpdesk@rider.edu. For more information, please visit the HelpDesk.
