2015–2016 Beta Alpha Psi Officers
Beta Alpha Psi is the national honor society that recognizes excellence in students of accounting, finance and computer information systems. Under the direction of faculty advisers Dr. Nandini Chandar and Dr. Yunxia (Peter) Zhu, Rider’s Kappa Epsilon chapter of Beta Alpha Psi gives students the opportunity to participate in a variety of professional and community service events, as well as network with numerous industry professionals. This year’s induction ceremony was held on May 1st and featured the following elected officers for the 2015-16 academic year:

President: Rebecca Janicki
Rebecca Janicki ’16, is a honors student with an Accounting and Entrepreneurial Studies double major and plans on passing the CPA exam. Rebecca is an active member of Accounting Society, Phi Beta Lambda, and Beta Alpha Psi. She has taken part of the Tax Assistance Program at Rider and plans to continue volunteering. Rebecca aspires to work as a tax accountant at one of the big four accounting firms. This past summer she interned at EY in the tax practice. During her free time, she volunteers at an after-school daycare program for elementary through middle school children at Best Times, LLC located in Watchung, NJ. Her life philosophy is: “If it’s meant to be then it will be."
Vice President: Zachary Hansen
Zachary Hansen ’15, MAcc ’16 is a graduate student in the Masters of Accountancy Program. Zachary was a tutor for various Italian, Statistics, Finance, and Accounting classes. He is an active member in Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Society. Zachary had two internships in the audit practice, one winter internship with Deloitte and one summer internship with KPMG. During his spare time, Zachary likes to spend time with his family and go golfing. His life philosophy is: “If I ever reach perfection, I’m not trying hard enough, because there is always something more to reach for.”
Secretary: Katherine Whittaker
Katherine Whittaker ’15, MAcc ’16 is a graduate student in the Masters of Accountancy Program. Katherine plans on sitting for the CPA exam during the 2015-2016 academic year. She is currently serving as the Secretary for Beta Alpha Psi as well as the Graduate Assistant for the College of Business Career Services. Katherine aspires to begin her career as an auditor for a big four accounting firm and travel the world. Over the summer she participated in an internship with Ernst and Young in their audit department. Her life philosophy is: "Good things come to those who wait but better things come to those who work for it."
Treasurer: Daniella Savarese
Daniella Savarese ’16 MAcc ’17 is an Accounting and Finance double major that plans on going into the MAcc program and pass the CPA exam. Daniella is an active member of Omicron Delta Kappa, which is a National Leadership Honor Society, and Beta Alpha Psi. Throughout her time at Rider, she has also been involved as a manager of the Rider Club Ice Hockey, liaison for the Student Government Association’s Finance Board, and a Chief Financial Officer for Olson Hall. She had a Finance/Accounting Co-op at Johnson and Johnson and a Tax Internship at WithumSmith+Brown. This past summer she worked at Datacolor as a Finance Intern. Her life philosophy is: “Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful” a quote by Joshua J. Marine.
Chapter Development: Yijia (Cassey) Cao
Yijia (Cassey) Cao ’15, MAcc ’16 is a graduate student in the Masters of Accountancy Program. She is an active member of Accounting Society and Beta Alpha Psi. Yijia participated in the Tax Assistance Program at Rider in the past spring and looks forward to continue doing so. Also she works at the student success center as an accounting tutor. She had an internship with EY in the Audit practice this past summer and she is planning to sit for the CPA exam in the following spring. On her spare time, she likes traveling, singing, and cooking. Her life philosophy is: “Stay hungry, stay foolish,” a quote by Rashmi Bansal.
Community Service Chair: Melissa Lauria
Melissa Lauria ’15, MAcc ‘16 is a graduate student in the Masters of Accountancy Program. Melissa plans on sitting for the CPA exam during the 2015-2016 academic year. She is currently serving as both the Community Service Officer for Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Society, as well as the Graduate Assistant for the CBA Dean's Office. Melissa has been involved in multiple internships in accounting, including Ernst & Young. Her life philosophy is: "Never allow waiting to become a habit. Live your dreams and take risks. Life is happening now."
