Rider University hosts a circle of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. Composed of junior and senior students who meet the leadership qualifications for membership and the GPA (3.25 or above) requirement, the society’s goals are to recognize the accomplishments of academically sound student leaders and enhance leadership skills and abilities.
With approximately 300 circles nationwide, Omicron Delta Kappa recognizes achievement in the following five areas:
- Campus/Community Service, Social/Religious Activities, and Campus Government
- Journalism, Speech and the Mass Media
- Creative and Performing Arts
Advised by the director and associate director of the Center for the Development of Leadership Skills, John Farrell and Laura Seplaki, Omicron Delta Kappa not only promotes the personal and professional development of its members, but also seeks to encourage leadership development for all students at Rider University through a variety of workshops and opportunities.
Omicron Delta Kappa invites current juniors and seniors to apply in the Fall semester of each academic year, with an Induction Ceremony occurring in the Spring Semester. Additionally, freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to apply for a Preliminary Membership to ODK which will afford the benefits of ODK membership short of the ability to vote. It’s a great way to get involved early, develop leadership skills and abilities, and work toward full membership upon junior year.
For more information, visit the ODK booth at SGA Awareness Day (mid-September) and be on the lookout for more information about the upcoming ODK Mixer to meet the ODK leadership and learn about the Society and application process. You are also encouraged to review the ODK National website at www.odk.org.
